ESRA#: 2009-554CO
Status: Adopted

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 45 lbs
Variety: Bench

Molly has a new lease on life. She has successfully recovered from hip and knee surgery on both back legs. For the first time in a long while, Molly is pain free and enjoying life. Molly is more than ready for her new life.

Molly is a sweet, beautiful Springer who loves just about everyone she meets. She gets along with her foster siblings, the cats and the children. Molly does best with children over the age of ten. She is housetrained, likes her crate and rides like the lady she is in the car. Molly walks well on the leash, and usually comes when she is called. Molly really has no bad habits, as she does not chew or dig. Molly’s Springer ears will need regular cleanings to make sure that they do not get infected. A house with few stairs would be best for Molly.

Molly now enjoys playing with her favorite toy, a soccer ball. She is also up for a game of fetch, if you are up for that, too. Molly will enjoy walks and hikes with you. Time spent with her family is what Molly loves the most. She is a Velcro Springer through and through!

If Molly sounds like the perfect dog for your family, please drop us a line.

MADER
Vernal, UT

ESRA#: 2009-1157UT
Status: Available

Age: 13 months
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 40 lbs
Variety: Field

This is Mader, who is a very sweet young Springer! Mader was used to living outside in a kennel before he came into rescue, so he is really enjoying the great life of a indoor dog now. Mader loves people, especially children! He is also great with other dogs, cats, and did I mention that he really loves kids?

He is learning his house manners very well. He loves to sleep in his crate at night and will even race his foster mom to get to his bed when it is time to go to sleep! Mader is almost fully housetrained and doesn't chew on anything except his own toys. Mader will lie quietly while the kids and other dogs are napping, but he is extra excited when everyone wakes up and it is playtime again!

Mader enjoys playing outdoors. He likes to play chase with the other dogs, and he also loves to play with his squeaky toys and--feet! He also loves to run. Mader is a typical high-energy, fun-loving young Springer with lots of love to give!

Mader is very good at staying close to his people when he is off leash. He is not a jumper. His foster mom can't believe that anyone would be able to give up this very sweet dog!

Mader is a little small, but he is a perfect "lil boy" size! He is healthy and happy and would love to share his love of life with a new Forever Family. He is just the right size to snuggle up next to you on the couch or in your lap, because he doesn't take up much room. And if you happen to have some squeaky toys for him, Mader will be the happiest dog ever!

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 45 lbs

Hi, Opie is in our foster care and we’d like to introduce him to you all.

Opie’s life hasn’t been cushy. He spent his entire four years on a cable outside. He has learned his way around the house quickly. He handles stairs well, he prefers the furniture to the floor, he knows what the kitchen is all about (he counter surfs), and we expected to have to housetrain him, but, nope, not one accident. Yeah for Opie!

He came into rescue heartworm positive and once treated, he had to be kept quiet for four weeks. The heartworm is gone and, so you’ll know, a few puppy traits emerged: a little chewing is a good thing; he can spot the stray sock anywhere; a little digging is fun; it’s mine and you can’t have it. Because he is obedient and knows that the commands Sit, Stay, Come, Down, Off, and No-- Give needs some work, these little puppy traits can be overcome.

Opie is smart, has a sweet disposition, wants to please you, and likes to be where you are (but isn’t too Velcro). He is playful, rides very well in the car, is crate trained, and pulls a little on the leash. Opie gets along great with our four-year-old male Springer. He’s not timid, good with children and cats, not a barker, and not aggressive at all. Opie is well mannered at the vet and his tail is just long enough to make an endearing thump, thump, thump sound when he sees you in the morning. He’s a great all-around dog.

If Opie sounds like your kind of Springer, ask about meeting him. You’ll love that you have given yourself a chance to meet this wonderful guy.

What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. – Shakespeare

Miss Rose, though of mixed blood, is all Springer in her heart. Her spirit, manners, beautiful face, coat, and voice shine from her mother’s side of the family. Her unknown father left her with short little legs that add to her cuteness and personality.

Rose is a typical puppy with lots of bounce, kisses, and character. She loves to chase and tumble with her sister, Lilly. She has no fear of her big foster brother, Benny, and she playfully runs under him, keeping him on his toes! Rosie walks well on a leash, rides nicely in the car, and is crate and doggy-door trained. She is spayed and is learning house manners. She is ready for basic obedience training and lots of loving. She adores her toys and is so darn cute prancing around with them.

This little flower is going to remain a small girl. She will fit just about anywhere. Rosey is ready to give her heart away, perhaps to you! Please visit with her foster parents to learn more about this darling little girl .

ESRA#: 2009-771UT
Status: Adopted

Age: 9 years
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 41 lbs
Variety: Field

Please meet sweet Annie! She is a darling girl who was released to a shelter because her family could no longer afford to take care of her. We are so happy to have her in rescue because she is really a fantastic dog to have around! Annie was having a very hard time adjusting to shelter life after living with her family for nine years. She was very scared and bewildered there alone without her people. So she is extremely glad that she was rescued and now gets to live in a loving home with her wonderful foster parents, two other great Springer friends, a couple of cats, and lots of fun children who come around to play. That is so much better than life in a shelter!

Annie is a very calm dog and has excellent manners in the house. She is housetrained, loving, and very sweet. Annie is a tall and elegant Springer who arrived in her foster home already shaved down. She is likely to have a gorgeous coat when it grows out again! She follows her foster mom around the house and minds very well. Annie is not crate trained, but she stays home while her foster mom is at work and has never caused any trouble. She has absolutely no bad habits and loves to sleep at the side of her foster parents' bed at night.

Annie loves everyone she meets! She is great with children and is learning how to get along with the cats. She is currently being treated for ear infections in both ears, but those should be cleared up soon. When Annie got to her foster home, she spit out treats at first and didn't know how much fun toys could be. But now she is learning fast about all those things, and she is really loving life! She even goes to work with her foster mom occasionally and does very well there.

Her foster mom says that, in a nutshell, Annie is a perfect dog. In spite of her age, she has no signs of arthritis or hip problems. She would really love a new Forever Family! Could you be the right family for Annie?.

ESRA#: 2009-569NE

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 47 lbs

Here's Skippy! Or, more formally, please allow us to introduce AKC Handsome Skippy Blue.

Skippy is a sweet peanut butter ball of a dog. He lived the outdoor life prior to coming into rescue. He finds house life much to his great liking and thinks housetraining has been a small price to pay for sleeping on soft pillows and getting belly rubs. Massaging Skippy’s ears brings moans of delight, as he has suffered from ear infections. Just the sight of the ear-drop bottle will put Skippy into a quick Sit, as he loves to have his ears taken care of!

Skippy also loves the water, walks, and really almost everything! He gets along well with the other dogs and sits patiently for the groomer. He even tolerates his diet food, which is helping him reach a healthier weight. He naps in the car and walks well on the leash. He is obedience trained and invisible-fence trained. He reminds me to keep dirty laundry off the floor by consuming socks and unmentionables in the middle of the night. I’m sure a mother somewhere could use this behavior as the reason to get her kids to pick up their rooms! Skippy has not gotten completely up on the furniture, but he will manage to get half of himself into your lap for attention. He sleeps next to our bed at night and wakes us in the morning with a big kiss when the alarm clock goes off.

This goofy black-and-white boy is certainly ready for a great Forever Home. Is it yours? Please contact his foster family for more information. We love to talk about the dogs!

UPDATE, 10/9/09: Skippylicious! This dog now matches his name. He is quite handsome and trim, having lost over eight pounds since he first came to us. Skippy’s favorite activities have become snuggling and playing fetch. He is able to carry two tennis balls in his mouth at the same time! Skippy enjoys sleeping in his crate at night, fluffing his blankets to perfection. If you have a treat in your pocket and a soft spot in your heart for a wiggle boy, Skippy is waiting for you.

Hi,

My name is Cash, which is short for Cashew. My foster mom says I am just a great dog and definitely a keeper. I am friendly and outgoing and love to play fetch. One of my favorite toys is a soccer ball -- it is so much fun! I settled in very well with my foster family. In fact, my foster mom had to laugh because when she came home one day she found me lying on the dining room table in the sun. It was so nice and warm and cozy lying in the sun. She says I am quite the character.

I really respond to women the best and it takes me just a little longer to warm up to men. I like children ten and older. I like other dogs, too, but I will chase cats! I am good on the leash and I come when I am called when I am off leash. I do not chew or dig. I am housetrained, crate trained and I ride very well in the car. I might try counter surfing once in a while when it really smells good up there. I have been know to jump five-foot fences but I haven't even tried to leave my foster home. My foster mom says I am quite the Velcro dog and I love to follow her everywhere.

I would be great with a family that has children that are ten or older. I might knock over the little ones when I have fun playing. I guess I am not used to small people. I love it here at my foster home but I would really like to find my Forever Home where I can be spoiled and loved a lot.

Woof,

Cash

Hello. I'm Sammy and I'm looking for someone to cuddle with. I really like to cuddle, but I don't give sloppy wet kisses. I'm a lover, not a drooler!

I'm a very good boy and a fast learner. My foster mom says I've picked up the daily schedule really quickly and I know just when it's the right time for a doggie biscuit. I am still learning how to tell my foster mom that I have to relieve myself. I would much rather go outside than inside, so she is really helping me to figure that out. I get along with other dogs (there are 3 others in my foster home) and I don't mind being in a crate if I need to go there. I sleep on a dog bed, but would welcome joining you at night if you let me. I just love to be around my people. I guess my tail never stops wagging.

I was left at a shelter where they didn't know much about me. They named me Mackie, but I like Sammy better. I'm happy to be in a safe place where I'm not scared and someone pays attention to me. My foster mom says that I am a gentle boy and that I really love to cuddle – I think she said that already, but it is true.

I’m friendly, pretty quiet, and enjoy running around in the yard. I would really like to be part of a family. I don’t know much about playing with toys yet, but I bet I could learn to play if you showed me how. Are you the Forever Family for me?

Oh, how sweet! There is nothing as cute as a pup, and Lilly has all of those qualities that we adore. One moment she is bouncing and playing, and the next moment she is sound asleep, snuggling in your lap.

Miss Lilly is crate and doggy-door trained. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a car. She comes when called and is learning house manners, as she has never had a home before. She is very good with all of the dogs here, and of course she just adores people! She is smart and quite ready to learn all of the things you would like to teach her.

Lilly is a sister to Rose, so her parentage is a bit mixed, although she looks and acts all Springer. Being a petite girl, Lilly will not take up much space in your home, but she will certainly overflow your heart!

Age: 8 months
Gender: Female

Weight: 33 lbs

Reba is a darling black and white Springer who is very friendly and outgoing. She loves playing with everyone, either canine or human. Her favorite toy is a soccer ball that she can pounce on and chase around the yard.

Reba is still very much a puppy and will need some training. She loves men, women and children, especially children aged ten years or older. Reba has a lot of energy and may jump up on younger children. Reba is crate trained and mostly housetrained. She might benefit from having a doggy door to help with her housetraining. Reba does alright on a leash but will need to learn to come when called when she is off leash. She will come when she is called sometimes, it just depends on what she feels like doing at the time. Reba likes to chew on things and will need toys and bones to help her learn what is appropriate for her to chew on. When Reba is hungry, she has been known to do some counter surfing. It is so hard to resist some of those good smells up on the cupboard!

Reba tends to have a more alpha personality. She can be more dominant with some dogs and just great with others. She is just a little choosy about who she likes! Reba also loves to chase cats, so she will need a home without cats. Reba might do best in a single dog home where she can get the attention and training she needs. After all, she is still a puppy! She will need a family with older children because of her energy level. Please let us know if you are interested in this little girl.

October 10, 2009 - Sadly, Reina lost her battle with cancer today.  She had that springer joy that we all love. Please honor Reina by never forgetting her and her love of life.

Reina is happy and ready to go! GO, GO, GO!

Reina is a great field dog. Her first six years were wasted in the backyard, waiting for her opportunity to show her true breeding. And now, oh my gosh, she is beautiful in the field! She quarters like a dream and is in heaven when she is working for all she is worth. She has never been trained, but her instinct is so strong that the natural part just takes over. She will need a human partner who will teach her commands and show her the ropes.

Reina is housetrained, invisible-fence trained, and crate trained. She loves toys, treats, the water, and attention! She rides well in the car once you are traveling, but she does best crated as she loves all the sights, smells, and sounds, which encourage her to bounce. She is a very strong girl and pulls with excitement on the leash. A good run off leash helps burn off her energy. She likes to be the center of your attention and to snuggle on your lap while you watch TV. Reina does not like to share her food with other dogs, so she will need to be fed in a separate place from them. We feed her in her crate. She will, however, share her toys, and she loves to play with the other dogs
even when they do not want to. (Yes, she is a dominant girl!) As you can imagine, because of her strong prey drive she is not good with cats or any other wiggly small animals.

If you are an active person, Reina will keep up with you! She runs the pups into the ground and loves every minute of it. We enjoy her true Springer energy and joy. Channeling those qualities into a job will be very rewarding for her and for you!

Age: 12 months

Please meet little Miss Dixie! She is a sweet, spunky girl with lots of puppy energy and love to give. Dixie was living on a farm way down south before coming into rescue, so she is a true southern belle. She loves to fetch, play with her toys, run in the back yard, and play tug-of-war with her furry foster brother and sister. She is an absolutely delightful dog. Dixie loves every person and every dog she happens to meet, and the affection is always returned. You just can't help but love this adorable Springer!

Dixie is a very good passenger in the car. She does not counter surf, as she is trying to learn all her ladylike house manners. She is being crate trained and is doing well with that. She does pull on the leash a little, but she is a very quick learner, so she should soon learn not to pull. Dixie is very intelligent and already knows the commands Sit and Shake. As long as you let her outside consistently to do her business, she does not have any accidents in the house.

Dixie is still a little on the thin side, but she has a healthy appetite and is gaining weight. She is loving life in her foster home and now feels free to show her sparkling personality!

Dixie would make a great addition to an active family, and she is looking for her Forever Home. Would you like to see her sparkle and shine in your family? Please call to find out more about Dixie and see if she is the right dog for you!

Looking for a happy and out going Springer to share your life with - than Beau is your man!

Beau is one of the sweetest dogs you will ever meet.  He is a young guy who is very smart and has a great sense of humor.  Beau is completely house-trained, doesn't mind a crate at all and does really well on a leash.  He loves toys and runs around the house gleefully with one in his mouth.  It does not seem that anyone has spent time with Beau previously teaching him the basics.  Beau is quickly learning "sit", stay", "wait" and "off".  He comes running as fast as he can when you call him.  Beau wants to please you so he tries really hard to do as he is asked.  He is so darn cute too!  Beau loves to cuddle and snuggle. Being with you is all he asks.  He is a loving and devoted Springer.  Where ever you are is the best place to be.  Beau loves everybody he meets, but because of his exuberance children over 5 years old would be happiest with him.  Beau does great with the other dogs in the house.  He likes to play but also respects their need for space from time to time.

Beau does have a noticeable under-bite.  It does not stop him from doing anything.  He eats and plays like a champ!  Some may say it is an imperfection - we say it is adorable and endearing!  I guarantee that if you spend some time with Beau and get to see what an awesome boy he is that you will not even notice it after a bit.  Beau is one of the easiest foster dogs we have had in our home.  He is great dog!

If you are looking for a Beau who will love you forever - drop us a line and ask to meet this handsome fellow.

Hello, my name is Sage! I would really like to meet you, so please let me tell you about myself. I am a young Springer, but I am a really good boy and a very easy dog to have around. My foster mom says I am about the most velcro Springer she has ever met. I really love my humans. I want to be near them and snuggle all the time. I was taken into rescue because my previous home had too many dogs and just not enough room for all of us.

I came to my really fun foster home where I get along very well with my furry foster sister and brother. I am good with all other dogs and cats. They are great playmates! I am wonderful with children, and I have lived with children previously. I don't bark at all. I am extremely well housetrained and I have very good house manners.

When I came into rescue, my foster mom realized that I had a problem with inverted eyelids, so she had the vet fix that for me right away. Now I can see great and my eyes don't itch or sting anymore. I am looking good, if I do say so myself!

I am working with my foster mom to see how I do on and off the leash. So far I am doing very well and learning fast. I always come back when she calls me. I know my basic commands like Sit, Stay, and I am learning Lie Down. I am crate trained. I don't like the loud noises that guns make! I am quite mellow for a puppy, but I do have lots of fun when I play.

I would love to find my Forever Family soon. I like sleeping with my foster sister and brother in the family room. However, what I really want to do is sleep in my foster parent's bed and have someone to snuggle with all night long.

If you think I might be the right Springer for your home and family, please come and meet me soon!!

Sadie is a healthy, petite girl who loves to go, go, go! She loves to play ball, frisbee, and you name whatever other game. If it has her fetching a toy and hanging out with you, it is great fun! Six years of age you say, but most people think she is no more than two or three years old when they meet her.

Sadie is a girl who likes everyone she meets. She is housetrained, doesn’t mind being in a crate, walks fairly well on a leash, rides great in the car and comes running lickity-split when you call her name. Sadie would rather play with a ball or frisbee than chew on things she shouldn’t, she doesn’t counter surf, but if she did she couldn’t reach since she’s the small girl that she is.

Sadie would be a great addition to an active family. If you and your family want to fine tune your frisbee-throwing skills or take on agility training, Sadie is your gal. She is up for anything to do with play and moving around with you.

Don’t let her love for playing fool you, as she still loves to cuddle and hang out with you. Sadie is an easy girl to have around the house. She gets along with the other dogs in the house and does not seem interested in the cat at all. Her foster parents can’t figure out why anyone would give her up since she is just such a good girl. Come meet Sadie and see for yourself what a great dog she is.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Sadie.

Bella came to ESRA from a puppy mill situation. Bella has made some great strides in her foster home. It used to be that no one could touch or get near her. Now her foster mom can pet her and clean her ears along with other grooming. Bella needs to go into her crate when she needs to feel safe.

Bella smiles all the time. She gets along with all dogs and loves to play with big and little dogs. She is super fast and loves to play “chase me.” She is housetrained and crate trained. Bella is a very intelligent dog and enjoys all types of toys. She is learning to walk on a leash and is very brave. Bella is very gentle when she takes treats. She knows what No means and listens very well. She likes to ride in the car and loves the dog park. In fact, she will eagerly jump in the car and be ready to go with you, especially to the dog park.

Bella is still cautious around people and prefers women over men. She is very careful with new people and will need a chance to build that trust with you. She will only be touched on her own terms until she feels safe with you. Her foster mom says she laughs all the time and is very happy. Her foster mom just adores her, and Bella makes her laugh all the time, too. She has that silly Springer sense of humor.

Bella will love a home with other dogs and a yard to run and play in. She would do best in a home with adults. Bella is waiting for a home where she will feel safe, cared for and loved for the rest of her life. Are you that Forever Home for Bella?

My foster mom has lots of animals at her place, so I am used to them being around. I am good both on and off the leash. I am housetrained and I can go in a crate, but I am not sure I really like it. I have learned some dog manners and I do come when I am called. I do not counter surf. That does not mean I won't try to beg for a treat, though. I enjoy riding in the car and I love to go everywhere with you. I am very active and I do enjoy a good hike.

I am a little nervous sometimes, especially in new situations. I have been known to have what the doctor calls “stress-related seizures.” I had some when I first came to my foster home but I have not had any since. Other than that, I am very healthy. You might have to take things a little easier with me in the beginning until I am adjusted to a new situation.

My foster mom says I am very affectionate and I follow her everywhere like a true velcro Springer. I would do best in a home with children ten or older. I wouldn't mind having another dog buddy to play with, either.

I know I have to be patient and wait for the right family to come along, especially one that can handle my occasional seizures. I really love being with people. I’m waiting for you to visit me and take me to my Forever Home.

Woof!
Paige

Read all about the dogs ESRA recently rescued from Missouri. And check out the wonderful photo album!

Shayla, also known in her foster home as Cassie is a 3 year old spayed female. She came to us from a puppy mill situation and can be very shy at first until you gain her trust. Once she feels safe, she loves her people. She takes treats very gently, seldom barks and wags her tail all the time. She is crate trained and house trained. Be careful if you leave food on the counter, because she is a professional counter surfer and can steal food with the best of them. Cassie is still very frightened of leashes and does not walk on a leash at all. She will need some time to understand that she can be safe on a leash.

Shayla/Cassie is up to date on all her vaccinations. Her left front ankle is fused. We are unsure how that happened to her. We do know from x-rays that there is metal throughout her paw that looks like it came from a gun shot. She still enjoys playing but if she runs to much, she becomes stiff and limps. She has a scar on her right hind leg and when she over exerts herself, it will become stiff also.

She really enjoyed going to the dog park and thought swimming was fun! She stayed close to her people and was not interested in other people or dogs. She is s true lover and likes to be pet all the time. She will give very gentle kisses if you ask. Cassie is a wonderful velcro springer. She is good with other dogs but is more interested in her people. She would be good as an only dog or with one other dog. She needs you to love her and teach her how much fun it is to be loved and feel safe. If you are willing to invest the time and effort, she is willing to give her heart and all the love she has to you.

This black-and-white beauty is as sweet as she is pretty. Sophie adores attention and loves to go for romps with you. She was a companion dog for Max and would be happy remaining so. However, she is also completely happy by herself.

Sophie is crate trained, and she uses one for naps or quiet time as she sees fit. She walks well on the leash, rides quietly in the car, and is housetrained and invisible-fence trained. She follows basic commands well and is willing to learn new ones. She is very good with other dogs. We do not know how she is with cats.

Sophie greets people with the usual Springer bounce and jump into the body for a kiss and ear rub. Her soulful eyes will melt most hearts. If she was a human she could flirt her way through almost anything! This girl will be a cherished member of any family.

Here is Mr. Max, Maxy, or Maximilian, if you please. My goodness, what a sweet gentleman Max is! He is so very polite when he greets people. He sits and waits for a kind hand to pat his head or scratch his ears. He is so gentle when he is out in the public that you cannot help but think how nice a therapy dog he could be.

Max walks well on the leash and is crate- and invisible-fence trained. He is housetrained and knows basic commands. He loves to go for car rides, riding very quietly. He is good with people of all ages. We are uncertain if he is good with cats, as we do not have any for him to interact with. He is a snuggler, a confidant, and a best friend.

Mr. Max’s weakness is that he needs a buddy; it could be you or another dog. He does not care to be left locked up alone. He does fine with a companion dog. In fact, Miss Sophie was his companion prior to rescue, and if you want a pair of sweet dogs, these two would be that pair!

Max goes to work with us some days. He is a big hit wherever he goes. He greets everyone, then lies down and snoozes until it is time to move to a new location or until someone calls him over for an ear scratch or a belly rub.

Max is a big Springer. He is still filling out after coming to us with his ribs showing. His ideal weight will be at sixty-plus pounds. He is a BIG love!

HI! My name is Roxy! I am just about one year old and I am having a great time so far. If you are wondering how a cute pup like me found myself in foster care, well, my family could no longer take care of me and they were sad to see me go.

Let’s see, what can I tell you about myself? I like to play with my foster brothers and sisters and just have fun. I am not too interested in the house cats. I think humans are really cool. Big and little people are great. Nothing is better than hanging out with my humans and getting lots of love and attention. I enjoy riding in the car and swimming is fun, fun, fun! I am proud to say that I am housetrained. I know that I am young and still have much to learn – but I am game if you are.

Oh, I have a lot of energy! It would be great if my Forever Family would take me swimming, because I love it SO much. I would also really like to go on long walks, and maybe go to a place where I can run around without my leash. Playing with my humans would be just fine by me, too! So, if you think I am cute and I sound like the perfect Springer for your family, drop me a line and we can talk!

Love,
Roxy

For being such a petite little girl, Delilah sure has a big heart!  She loves to cuddle and give kisses.  And you might just get a nibble or two on your ear if you are lucky.

Delilah is a fun-loving girl who has a sense of humor and is always looking for ways to entertain her foster mom and dad.  Delilah is a smart girl who has already learned sit, stay and off.  She is crate trained and house trained.  When possible she will seek the highest spot in the house or yard to watch over us or her fellow dogs and cats.  Delilah thinks that the laundry basket is a perfect place to sleep and keep an eye on everything.  Delilah is doing great with her manners, but will need a family that will continue to nurture her and teach her new things.

Delilah is an active young lady and likes to go, go, go!  She loves to play and gets along well with the other dogs and cats in her foster home.  Delilah’s forever home will need to be an active one.

Delilah may be tiny but she has a big heart with lots of love to give
Delilah is looking for an active forever home. If you are looking for a devoted active dog this little sweetie is for you.

August 22, 2009 ~ It is never easy to have one so young leave us so early.  Maggie was a sweet and loving girl who gave as much if not more love as she received.  Maggie is now free from her epilepsy and the seizures it brought.  We know how difficult it is when they have to go.   Knowing that once she reaches the Bridge Maggie will be happy, healthy and greeted warmly by those that have gone before ~ may be the only condolence that we can take comfort in.

Please meet little Miss Maggie! She is just a ray of Springer sunshine everywhere she goes! Maggie was released to rescue from her previous owners, who couldn't care for her anymore. She has one of the sweetest personalities of any dog her foster mom has ever met. Maggie is fine with cats, although she loves to eat any leftover cat food she encounters! Her foster mom is working to break that habit. Maggie is really good with her furry foster sister, loves all other dogs, and is learning to play and chase. She is starting to learn how to fetch her toys, and so far she is doing very well.

Maggie is very eager to learn and figure out this very interesting world. You see, Maggie has epilepsy, and she hasn't yet discovered how everything works in the world around her. Maggie is doing well and is quite stable on her epilepsy medication. She doesn't have seizures very much at all. But she will require medication for the rest of her life, and from time to time it may have to be adjusted by her vet. However, her condition doesn't keep Maggie down at all. She is a very wonderful and loving Springer!

Maggie is working very hard on her housetraining and coming along quite well these days. She rides well in the car and doesn't jump around or lick all the windows. She walks great on a leash and doesn't pull at all. She is also working on her crate training. Maggie knows her name and comes when she is called, but she still needs to learn basic commands. She is a very fast learner and wants to please her people as much as she can!

Maggie doesn't live with any children in her foster home, but when she encountered a five-year-old boy on her daily walk at the park, she was very sweet and gentle with him and allowed him to pet her.

Maggie is such a beautiful girl and a darling dog! She will need a family who will let her become an important member of the family and one who will have the time to give her lots of love, along with the training and attention she needs. If you are that family, please call us soon!

Status: Adopted

Age: 2 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 45 lbs
Variety: Field

Annie is a sweet girl who loves to play.  Some of her favorite games are fetch and keep away; dropping her toy is not a skill that she learned yet… played like a true Springer!

Annie’s manners are great for the young lady that she is ~ she's house trained, does not counter surf, and is calm around the house.  Annie’s foster dad says that her coat is the softest her has ever felt.

Getting plenty of exercise help to keep Annie happy and healthy.  One of her favorite places to go everyday is the dog park where she can run free.  As much as Annie loves to play with other dogs she would be just as happy being the only dog in her new home.   Annie has not met a person that she hasn’t liked; she really likes to be around people too!  Annie’s start in life was not the best, but she has slowly come out of her shell.  She can still be a bit hesitant about being petted, but has improved quite a bit in this area in the last couple of months.

Annie has grown into her own, unique personality.  She is expressive, happy and knows what she likes.  Annie is a confident, beautiful Springer who is ready for her Forever Home.   If your family is in need if a loving, energetic and devoted Springer ~ than Annie is your girl!

Hey, everybody, meet Mikey! Mikey will like you--he likes everyone! This beautiful black-and-white Springer just showed up on the doorstep of his foster dad's home one day. Foster Dad went to the shelter to make sure that his owners could find him if they were looking. But no one came to claim Mikey, or M, as his foster dad affectionately calls him. So now Mikey is staying with his foster dad and furry foster brother, patiently waiting to find a new Forever Family.

Mikey is very kind, affectionate, playful, and gentle. He tries hard to be good and to please his owner. Mikey is a quiet and sensitive pup who craves attention from his family and loves to cuddle! He is equally happy being outside playing and chasing rabbits or quietly napping while his foster dad works on the computer. Mikey is great with other dogs and children. He loves to watch the kids in the neighborhood play, and he would love to join the fun! Mikey is curious about cats, but he doesn't go out of his way to chase or bother them.

Mikey is working very hard and making good progress on his housetraining. His foster dad has been very patient and kind in helping him learn this important skill. Mikey is also getting better at using his crate. He is learning to eat in there, and he is beginning to realize that it's not such a bad place to rest.

Mikey is a young, active Springer who loves to go for walks. He is good on a leash and doesn't pull much. He will go on point if he sees a rabbit, but he does nothing more than that. He is a very smart dog. Mikey can be a little timid sometimes, and he has exhibited a bit of anxiety when he has felt insecure and scared. That isn't so strange for a pup who had been lost and alone in the world! But Mikey is settling in very well now with his foster family and is getting used to the family routine.

Please call to meet Mikey and see if you would be just the right one to love him forever!

Meet Charlotte ~ What a smile!

Charlotte is a happy Springer who loves hugs and snuggles.  She is an affectionate girl who will cuddle up next to you and will be eternally happy if she gets a good belly rub!  Charlotte can be a little timid when first meeting people but warms up quickly and is sure to wiggle her way into your lap.  She does well with the other dogs in the house and has been a wonderful mom to her pups.

Charlotte is so easy to have with us.  She is house-trained, likes her crate, comes when called and rides well in the car.  Not having much experience on a leash until coming into foster care, Charlotte is really doing quite well on her walks.  She is a smart girl and picks up on things very quickly.   Charlotte is healthy, enjoys playing ball and she and Juliet still wrestle and chase each other all around the yard.  What a sight to see!  They have so much fun and Charlotte is so gentle with Juliet.  She also likes going for walks and exploring the wildness around her.

Charlotte is a great dog!  She will love you for all her days if you love her in kind.  Oh, and there is so much to love about Charlotte!

What a face! This big guy is all about having a family to love. He is at his best when he is with you. Walking, riding in the car, playing with toys, or relaxing at home makes Chauncey one happy camper.

Chauncey is invisible-fence trained, is doggy-door experienced, is learning leash manners, is house trained, and loves to go for rides in the car. He is athletic and can jump fences (just call him Superman!), but he does not go anywhere once he is out. He can stay in the house by himself when we are at work without any problems. He has been great with the other dogs in the house. We have not had him around any cats. He enjoys a good snuggle and can wash your face with one big kiss!

Chauncey is still young and will need the exercise that young boys need. He enjoys his walks off leash in the fields and is fun to be with. He is big now at fifty-six pounds, but he is still skinny. He should fill out at around sixty-five pounds. Chauncey is shaved down now, but he will have a beautiful show coat once it grows back.

If you would like to make Chauncey your new best friend and share a lifetime of happiness with him, contact his foster home. We think he is great and we would love to talk with you about him.

Hello, my name is Champ! I would like to introduce myself and tell you a little bit about me. My foster mom says that I am very handsome, extremely good with cats, and good with other dogs, too. I am housetrained and I walk well on a leash. I know the commands Sit, Stay, This Way, and Go To Bed, which means I should go to my crate. As you can see, I am very smart and fairly well trained already.

I came from previous owners who could not keep me any longer because they were splitting up. However, they loved me and took good care of me, so I am a very sweet and loving boy. I always want to please my humans, but sometimes it is a little hard to remember what I am supposed to do.

I love to play with the water from the garden hose--what a fun game! I am pretty affectionate and I really love my foster mom and dad. I haven't been around children much, so I am not sure how I would do with them. I ride well in the car, and I am crate trained.

I am still quite young, so I have lots of energy and enthusiasm for life. I sometimes jump up on people to greet them, so I guess I still have some manners to learn. I would probably do best in a home where I wasn't left alone for too long, because I love being with people and I really need to move and exercise a lot. Remember, I am still a growing Springer.

I also love to eat! I will eat as much as you give me, as fast as I can. I will sometimes go looking for more food in the kitchen, just in case there is something I missed. You never know what goodies might be on the counters!

If you would like to know more about me from my foster mom, she can give you even more great and wonderful details. Please contact us to find out if you might have just the right Forever Home for me!

Read all about the dogs ESRA recently rescued from Missouri. And check out the wonderful photo album!

Sweet, sweet, Sadie! Life is so new for this Missouri puppy-mill rescue. Everything she sees, smells, or touches is a big experience for her. She is taking everything in at her own pace. Little by little, she is joining us in daily household activities. She is curious but so cautious. It is like watching a new life forming.

Things she has learned:
1) The house is warm. Stay in the house!
2) Dog beds are soft. Sleep on a dog bed!
3) Food is WONDERFUL. Don’t miss a meal. Eat all treats offered.
4) Laps are nice. I shouldn’t struggle if I am picked up and placed on one. Just take a nap and SNORE.
5) Car rides are good. They take me to places that are better than where I was.
6) The carpet is not the same as the grass outside. It is not my potty place.
7) I have boundaries outside. They keep me safe.

Things she is learning:
1) People are basically good. I can trust them, even men.
2) Leashes are not for tying me down. I can walk to good places.

Things she has perfected:
1) Dog buddies are the best!
2) Lick the fingers of those giving me treats. They taste good!
3) Give kisses to those not looking. It makes them laugh.

Things YOU need to provide Sadie with:
1) LOVE
2) PATIENCE
3) TRUST and SECURITY
. . . and, most importantly, NEVER leave her lonely again!

Sadie is so beautiful. Her little soul is reaching out to someone special. Could it be you? Please contact her foster family to learn more about this darling.

Age: 4 years
Gender: Male

Please meet Talledega, or Tali, as all his friends call him. Tali is a really beautiful dog. He is very sweet and your typically affectionate Springer, who loves to have his belly rubbed as often as possible! Tali is good with other dogs, but not so good with cats. He will chase the resident cat at his foster home whenever he gets the chance.

Tali rides in the car like a champ! He loves to play fetch non stop, and his favorite toy is a plastic football, which of course, he will bring back every time you throw it! Tali does live up to his name.... because he loves to go fast! He will run out of the fenced yard if he gets the chance, but he doesn't run away, he just likes to explore the other homes and yards in the neighborhood.

Tali enjoys playing with the other dogs in his foster home and he hasn't been on a leash very much to test out his leash skills yet. More information on that will be coming soon! Tali is crate trained and house trained. He is very good with children and friendly even when strangers come over. But he does like to bark with the dog pack when someone comes to the door! Tali does a little bit of food guarding, but it is quite minimal, and can be handled fairly easily.

Tali came from a family who loved him very much, and had to give him to rescue when they moved into a smaller home. They didn't have the space to keep him, or give him the room to run and play that he needed. Won't you please call to find out if you might be the right loving Forever Home for this wonderful Springer boy? Tali is waiting to meet you!

Doc just turned 11, but you would never know it. He is a cute, sweet and lovable little guy who loves to swim, hike and run daily. He is great with the two dogs in his foster home. Doc enjoys going for rides in the car. His favorite place is right by your side, especially on the couch and up in bed. Every day Doc wakes up smiling. He is happy and ready to go. Doc is a great listener. He is housetrained and very well mannered.

Doc was lovingly relinquished into rescue by a family that loved him and took wonderful care of him since he was a puppy. He now needs a Forever Family who is home most of the day, as Doc gets sad and worries about when you will be back when he’s left alone for long periods of time. His foster family loves him very much and they know that you will too!

Hello, my name is Nyla and I am a very sweet and loving Springer!! I am good with the other dogs at my foster home and I also do fine with cats. I have learned to use the doggy door and I am totally housetrained. I don't chew at all, and I love to run and play. I am good even when I am off the leash to listen and come back when my foster mom calls.

I am crated trained and good with children. I have been trained as a hunting dog, but my previous family told the rescue that I would sometimes get over heated while I was out hunting. So maybe that isn't the best sport for me. I love to go for walks and hiking in the mountains. You might just want to make sure there is lots of water for us to drink! I ride well in the car and I love to be with my people wherever they are!

My foster mom says that I am a wonderful Springer, very typical, because I will follow you around the house any where you go. I am a very good companion, so you will never be lonely, I promise!!

Won't you please give my foster mom a call to see if you are the right forever home for me? I am waiting for you with lots of love and Springer kisses!!

Sincerely,
Nyla Springer

Hi, my name is Charlie, and like Charlie Chaplin I am a clown and have a history as a bit of a tramp. I am an energetic young boy that packs a lot of personality into a small package.

I have a beautiful full tail that never stops wagging. When I was found and brought to the shelter, I was very frighten and confused. Since coming to my foster home, I have learned some confidence and positive ways to get attention. I usually get along with other dogs, and even cats, but I like smaller dogs best, as they are less frightening to me. Big dogs scare me and make me feel defensive.

I love my food and toys, and have learned that if I let my foster family take them, they will always give them back. I love attention from my foster mom and dad, especially belly rubs and ear scratches. I am a fast learner, quickly learned my name, figured out the doggie door, and learned to Sit and give up my food or toys when asked.

I am looking for a Forever Home that has time to help me develop my self confidence, will give me a structured environment to help me feel safe, and will continue to teach me to be a good companion.

Read all about the dogs ESRA recently rescued from Missouri. And check out the wonderful photo album!

Mandy is one of our dogs from a puppy mill situation. During the transport she became very ill and needed to be pulled from the transport to see a vet. Mandy is up to date on all her vaccinations and is now very healthy. She has been spayed.

Mandy was adopted and has just been relinquished to ESRA again because they did not have the time to train her. She is a very sweet dog. Mandy is a Velcro dog and will follow you everywhere. She is more comfortable around women than she is with men. Mandy has a lot of energy and still needs some training. She is very smart and wants to please you. She is housetrained and crate trained. She will try crawling in your lap when she is in the car and may need to be kenneled while driving. She does well in the car otherwise and just wants to be with you all the time. Mandy will need some time to feel safe and build trust with someone new.

Mandy has been known to bark at other dogs sometimes. She did have some exposure to cats and dogs in a previous foster home and did fine with them. Mandy would do best in a home with adults because they are more predictable and she would feel safer. If you are willing to provide the training and the love for Mandy, she will be your best buddy!

BEAU

ESRA # 2007-331NE

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 46 lbs.
Variety: Field-Bred

Young, handsome, liver-and-white male seeks life long relationship with adoring family. Your Beau is waiting!

This lover boy just wants to be by your side, whether it is watching TV, working in the garden, going out on the town, or taking that glorious stroll through the countryside. He does not seem to have the temperament for hunting as he is afraid of loud noises, but does love to hunt up a good belly rub!

Beau is learning his leash manners, is housetrained, invisible-fence trained, and rides great in the car. He is quickly learning basic commands and enjoys his treats for doing so well! When introduced to another young intact male, he did not show good manners. He may work best as either an only dog or with a submissive one. Beau is also overly interested in the shop kitty, who has decided it is not in his best interest to meet him.

Beau's one goal in life is to be your companion, confidant, and snuggle buddy. He loves people of all ages, plays with children, and is a merry soul. If you are ready for a Springer kiss on the first date, Beau is your guy.

Update 26 JUL 08: Hello, all--I have a new look but the same sweet, lovable personality!

I was diagnosed with ehrlichiosis early this spring. I have probably had it for some time, but it was in an inactive stage till this spring when my eye turned red. Though we treated my eye and the ehrlichia with all of the right things, I still ended up with glaucoma (my iris fused to my lens) and had to have my eye removed. My surgery went well, and I have recovered nicely. The crazy bucket is off, and once again I can get my head into your lap for ear scratches. Oh sooo nice! Everyone is in love with me wherever I go, as I am in constant wiggle mode. My ehrlichiosis has responded well to my antibiotic. They say I am doing very well! I would love to have a family of my own without other boy doggies so I can be spoiled!

Extra wiggles and kisses,
Love, Beau

UPDATE, 11/30/08: Beau is doing great and just wants a home of his very own.

Miss Gabby! What a sweet lady she is. You should meet her and see for yourself!!

Miss Gabby came into ESRA's care from a puppy mill in Missouri. Gabby has been a mom more than once. Her sweet disposition and calm demeanor have not been lessened by her long life in less than desirable conditions.

She has taken Sahara under her wing and helped her adjust to her new exciting life in a house with people and other dogs. Gabby's natural instinct to care for and nurture pups has really shown through with Sahara.

Miss Gabby has given so much to those she has raised and cared for. It is truly her turn to be pampered, cared for and loved for the rest of her many days. Gabby is such a sweet girl that it will not be hard to fall head over heels for her. If you feel that you are the family to spoil Gabby silly and want her to be yours - just say the word!

Sweet, sweet Teddy (Bear). Gosh! You just want to hug and kiss him!

Teddy is a very nice seven-year-old, liver-and-white boy that just loves everyone. He is a compassionate boy, tuning into your moods, making sure he is there when you need him. He is also a silly boy that can be found carrying his toys around the house and taking them with him on walks. Teddy loves to snuggle. He is great with other dogs, minding his manners around them, yet he will play when asked. It is unknown how he is with cats, but his temperament leads us to believe that he would be just fine. He is good on the leash, is crate trained (though he is fine without one, and can stay by himself all day with no problems), housetrained, and invisible-fence trained. He rides quietly in the car and is well-behaved for the groomer, placing his paw in the groomer's hand when asked. The vet noted how nice he was when he came for his evaluation. You just cannot help but love him.

Teddy has a beautiful soft and shiny coat. We are in the process of evaluating his back knees and checking his hips. If we find he has problems, as we suspect he does, he will receive treatment prior to adoption, as ESRA does everything possible to ensure that our great friends are healthy and happy. That is why we always appreciate any and all donations offered on behalf of the dogs.

Please check in with us to arrange a visit with Teddy. He is one dog that will just tug on your heart when you meet him..

Meet Thibodeaux. Those that know and love him call him Tibby!!

Tibby was lovingly relinquished to ESRA by his family. He has been doing great since coming into rescue. He certainly seems to be enjoying the comforts of being an inside dog. He can find the fluffiest and plumpest dog beds faster than any of the other dogs. Tib's house manners are coming along nicely. He gets along great with his foster brothers, is crate trained, not bad on a leash, and comes running when called. Tibby still has to learn a few things yet, but he is smart and will learn quickly in a positive environment.

Tibby would love to have another dog to run around and play doggie games with, and just plain ol' hang out with. Tibby is a sensitive boy who really listens to everything you say. Now, whether he understands it all is another story! He is attentive and is truly a Velcro Springer. Tib really wants to be part of everything that we do. He is full of curiosity and wonder. Being new to inside living, the simplest of activities and the commonest of noises are just fascinating for him. Making popcorn in the microwave is extremely interesting for Tib. What IS that noise?! His head tilting from side to side while looking up at the microwave ~ he is soooo cute!

Tibby is a boy who will love and be completely devoted to his family - and he deserves the same from his family. Tibby will do best in a home that is quieter and has another dog that loves to play and hang out with him. If you are that family, the one that will love and cherish Tib, then please let us know!

Who can resist a smile like that?

Copper is an energetic young Springer who loves to play, go for walks and play with his foster brother. Copper likes to chase the birds and rabbits that are brave enough to enter the yard. When on walks he is always sniffing out bunny and squirrel tracks, hoping he might scare up a few along the way. Copper loves the outdoors and all the sights, sounds and scents that are in it. He can sit on the patio and watch the world go by for hours occasionally running into the backyard to check things out.

Copper is most certainly a Velcro Springer. When given the chance to snuggle there is not one inch between and you him. Copper loves his people and wants to be where we are. He is never far away. Copper has a big heart with lots of love to give. He really gets along with just about everyone he meets - people and dogs that is. Copper would not do well with cats.

Copper is such a sweet boy, so playful and a little goofy too. He has a sense of humor and can make you laugh at his antics. Copper is a great dog. If you would like to meet him just let us know.

Please meet Miss Savannah. She came into ESRA from a puppy mill in Missouri. Savannah is a sweet girl who has much life and love to give and she is looking for her perfect, Forever Home.

Savannah has made such progress since being at her foster mom and dads! When she first arrived she was so timid and frightened that she would barely come out of her crate to eat or go outside. With patience, consistency, and love, Savannah is starting to come into her own. She gets along well with other dogs, like to play with toys (they are all her toys), and really likes to be around her people. Savannah will do best with kids older than seven years of age. She rides well in the car and is crate trained, but still needs a little coaxing to go in. Savannah comes when called, needs a bit more leash work, and responds well to the command No.

Savannah is still struggling with a bladder/kidney infection that she came into rescue with. Her vet said that is completely treatable with antibiotics, but it may take a few months for it to clear up.

Savannah is a wonderful girl who has a new lease on life! She is ready to find her Forever Home where she can continue to blossom into the beautiful Springer that she is. If you are certain that Miss S is just who your family needs to make it complete, please fill out an application and tell us.

ESRA#: 2008-1106KS
Status: Adopted

Age: 9 months
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 25 lbs

Hi,

My foster mom named me Sparky and I am just a cute little bundle of energy, so I am told. I am in a home with other dogs, which is good because I like other dogs. It is great having a playmate or two. I am a black and white bench bred male. I have not been neutered yet, but I have my appointment scheduled. My tail is docked and my dew claws have been removed. My foster mom says I am a very intelligent outgoing puppy and I tend to be more dominant. I have been very busy learning all the new things that I can. I really like people but I am still a little shy with people I do not know. I know commands like: sit, no, and want to outside? I come when I am called and I am crate trained. I am almost completely house trained and my foster mom is so proud of me. I am learning how to walk on a leash but I think I still need some more help in that area. I really love to give kisses and love attention from people. I am very good at riding in the car and love to go with you wherever you go. I like to play tug of war with other dogs and I like chewing on hard toys.

I would like a family that can spend time teaching me new things, after all, I am still just a puppy. I wouldn't mind having another dog to play with and keep me company. But most of all, I just need someone to love and that would love me back and maybe spoil me just a little.

Update 02 MAY 09: Sparky, aka Riley, is back with ESRA again. Sadly, his adoptive home did not work out. He has grown, and is a gorgeous bench bred Springer. He will need a home with a six-foot fence because he has been known to jump shorter fences. He loves to run, and would like a big back yard to play in. He is great with kids and other dogs. Sparky is very active. After all, he is still a puppy. Sparky is really looking forward to finding his Forever Home.

MORGAN

dogpic

dogpic

ESRA#: 2009-47WY
Status: Adopted

Age: 5 months
Gender: Female
Color: Black & White
Weight: 25 lbs
Variety: Field

Morgan is a five-month-old black/white field Springer, and she was recently spayed. Morgan still has her front dew claws, and has a full tail. She knows Sit, is kennel trained, and housetrained. Morgan does not beg for treats, and has good manners in the house. Morgan is good with other dogs and young children. She likes all types of dog toys, after all she is still a puppy! Morgan will need some help learning to walk on leash because she tends to pull a lot. Morgan is kind and gentle, and likes to sit on your lap and cuddle. Morgan is not shy at all and loves people. She is a bit shy with other dogs.

Morgan is very cautious about life. In her former home, the resident dog did not like Morgan, and would try to attack her. Morgan was attacked by the dog and suffered a puncture wound to her windpipe when she was about eight-weeks-old. The wound has healed, and it does affect her breathing slightly. She will wheeze a little bit. There is still scar tissue present, but it does not affect her eating, drinking, playing, or giving kisses. The vet stated it may cause some problems in her senior years.

One of the things that Morgan LOVES is water. If you start running a bath, Morgan will be happy to jump right in there with you. She likes to put her nose under the water and blow bubbles.

Her foster mom thinks she would make a great agility dog because she thinks she is very cool when she leaps off the back deck over the steps. Why use stairs when you can fly?!

Morgan would do best with a family that has the time and is willing to put in the effort to provide some training for her.

Hi my name is Argie and I would love to meet you! In fact I love to meet and greet everyone that comes into my home!! Because I am sure of the fact that everyone who comes to our house is there to see me! I am just that kind of a friendly, energetic and enthusiastic dog!!

I really love to wiggle and squiggle and when you pet me I run around in circles so that you don't miss one single part of my body with your hands! I always want to play. I also enjoy riding in the car. I really love to play with my foster brothers and sister, we have a great time together.

Like all Springers, I am very affectionate and I love to snuggle with my humans. I am house trained and I have good house manners that I learned from my previous mom. In fact I learned a lot from her because she helped me go to obedience school! I am a very smart dog and I can be pretty funny too!! I love to play chase me, which means I pick up something of yours like a scarf, shoe, or remote control and then to get it back you have to chase me! If you don't want to chase me, then pretty soon I just give up and let you have it back. It's a game I really enjoy, I'm not always sure if the humans are having as much fun!

I am curious about the cat in my foster home, but I don't chase her at all. So I would say I'm pretty good with cats.
I don't chew on anything but dog toys, so I have learned what is a toy and what is not to chew. See, I told you I am very smart!

I even know what some of your actions mean, when you don't say anything at all. Like if you are putting on your coat, then we are going for a walk! If you get your keys, then I am going in the car with you. And if you start making the bed, I know it's time to get off!

I am such a beautiful and fun loving dog. I really can't wait to meet you and find out if you will be just the right forever home for me!!

Hello my name is Doogie. Although I'm not a doctor like Doogie Howser MD, I am very smart for my age which is a little over a year old. I'm so happy to be in Colorado after a long trip from Missouri where I was rescued from a puppy mill. I'm a liver and white tri-color and very handsome, if I may say so myself.

My foster mom loves to give me hugs and rubs my belly, which by the way, I really like too! It's great to live in a house where I can play with my tug toy and stuffed animals as well as curl up on the couch with mom. I also like to run around in the yard and after our recent snow storm, bounce around in the snow and pretend I'm a graceful deer bounding across the tundra. It made my mom laugh because she said my face looked like Frosty the Snowman, whoever he is!

I'm very useful around the house too. When the alarm clock goes off in the morning and mom hits the snooze button, I curl up beside her on the bed and wait until she's ready to get up. Then I give her lots of puppy kisses to say good morning and we get our breakfast and start our daily routine. I dutifully lie in the hallway with my fellow doggie friends while she gets ready to go to work. I also help her make the bed in the morning by hopping up and arranging the pillows and blankets. Mom doesn't think I do a good job but I think it's just the way it should be for me to sleep on.

I'm ready to find my Forever Home. Though I'll miss my foster mom and her dogs, it's time for me to break out on my own since I'm a big boy now. So if you have room in your heart and home for a funny, friendly, and sweet face like me, then I would like to meet you too!

Love,
Doogie

Age: 1 years

Skittles is as cute as her name! This spunky little girl is one of the Missouri puppy-mill survivors. Once an ash-covered, thin little bit of a girl, she is now a bright little spot of mischief.

Miss Skittles has a spirit about her that is irresistible. Once she is comfortable with you, she is fun and loving. She greets us with joyful energy in the mornings and races to her spot to be fed. After that, she loves to snuggle and then to have some play time. She loves being with us and follows us everywhere in true Springer fashion. Mind you, once she only wanted a quiet corner to be left alone in. Oh, the joy of being with a family! Yes, house life suits her very well.

Skittles rides very nicely in the car. She is housetrained, invisible fence trained, and crate trained. She is learning how to walk on a leash and getting better at it every day, although she is still not completely comfortable with the whole idea. She is highly motivated by treats, and this helps keep her training process on the positive side. She takes treats from you very gently.

Skittles is great with the other dogs. She is not good with cats, nor probably with any other small animal. She has a good prey drive/hunting instinct. She likes people, but you must earn her trust in order for her to be silly with you. She was introduced to children and was very scared of them. She was a good patient at the vet’s and has allowed us to groom her and wash her ears with no complaints. She will chew on things if she is left alone with nothing to do, and she has been known to counter surf. Oh, all that great food--it’s a buffet! This tiny girl has true springer legs under her and can leap or climb things when she needs to.

Little, silly Skittles is definitely blooming this spring. She is going to be a doll and a great companion for someone special. Please contact her foster home to learn more about her!

Hello, my name is Olivia and my best friends call me Livvi. I am a very sweet and shy girl but I really love all my foster brothers and sisters and I make friends with everyone quite easily. You see I was rescued recently from Missouri and I had a difficult life there. But I am very happy now in my comfortable foster home enjoying the good life for sure!

When I first got to my foster home I didn't know how to use the stairs. I had never seen them before! It took me a couple of days, but I found out that they come in very handy for getting around the house and yard, and now I use them all the time!!

My foster mom says I am a very quick learner. I learned the doggy door all by myself in just one day, and that is a really good thing! I can do my business in the backyard all alone!! I am good with the other dogs, but I'm not a pushover. I know how to stand up for myself when someone is getting their nose into my territory, in a friendly sort of way, of course! I am really good on a leash when we go for walks. I have had no formal training, but I watched the other dogs and figured it out really well!!

I can ride in the car pretty good, but it isn't my favorite thing. It makes me pant a lot and I did get sick once! I had to tell my foster mom sorry for that one! But she forgave me because I am so cute!! I learned my name very quickly and I come right away when someone calls me!
I understand what no means, but I haven't worked on sit or stay yet. When I am jumping up to greet someone, and they tell me no, I listen and get down.

I am told I have a pretty fierce bark for a sweet little dog! Someone on the other side of the fence might think I was a Great Dane. But I am really just a sweetheart of a dog who loves to snuggle and give kisses in the morning when I jump up on the bed to see who is already awake!

Won't you please stop by to visit me sometime? I'll even let you call me Livvi!!

Hi! I'm Neville. I am a sweet boy who came in from Utah on March 7th. I was turned into a shelter because of a divorce. I had a run of bad luck, but I know my luck has changed now that ESRA has taken me in!

I am a happy boy. In fact, I wag my tail so much and so hard my foster mom says I might just wag it until it falls off! I can't help it! I'm just so happy to be getting so many hugs and lots of good food! I was very skinny when I was rescued, but I'm putting on weight like crazy now! I also had a few problems like an ear infection. That's all cleared up now and my energy is coming back by leaps and bounds. My coat is shiny and I am dark chocolate and white in color.

I am very good in the house. I like to play with toys and I admit that sometimes I take socks and shoes. I listen well, though, and give up the things I'm not supposed to have, especially if someone gives me a toy instead. I just get so excited sometimes because I just love my foster home. My foster mom says that my forever home will be even better! I can't wait!

I get along well with other dogs. Right now, I'm allowed to eat by myself because if there's another dog around, I sometimes walk away from my food because I think they want it instead. My foster mom thinks that's how I got so skinny, so she lets me eat in a room by myself. When I do get to eat on my own, I eat like crazy! I have to make up for all of those meals I missed. In between meals, I get to eat carrots, which I dearly love!

I am really good on a leash. I don't pull and I walk quietly. I walk right next to my foster brother, even when he gets rowdy. I have learned to use the doggie door - even the fun automatic door that goes up and down! I always come right away when I'm called.

I love to look in mirrors! I even like to look at my reflection in glass doors. I have to check to be sure I'm gaining weight and that my hair is combed! I want to look beautiful in case people come to check me out!  I do like to run around a lot - my nose leads me lots of places. It's very sensitive and life is full of things to sniff. I think I'd make a good tracking dog if someone wanted to give me a job.
I lay quietly in my bed when my foster mom has to work. Periodically, I sense that she needs a hug, so I get up and give her some attention and then go right
back to my bed. I sleep quietly through the night. I don't bark much unless my foster brother tells me he needs help. He's an American Eskimo Dog and they bark enough for everyone. I was a little shy when I first came from Utah, but I've warmed up and I'm meeting lots of people and dogs. I've met some very nice kids, too. I went on a hike recently and wow! I met lots of people and dogs and was very happy to see everyone.

I hope my new family can spend lots of time with me to make up for the time I had to spend on my own. I love to walk and hike and will be a great companion.
My only bad habit is a bit of counter-surfing, but hey... I'm really hungry right now!

If you want a gentle, friendly and happy companion, please ask about me! I've heard people at the park say they think I'm adorable and beautiful. I always trot like a show dog so they can see my best side. I just know my forever home is just around the corner - maybe my next home will be yours?

Are you looking for a sweet, cuddly, playful and wiggly Springer?

Then look no further ~ Ted is exactly the Springer you are looking for!

Ted is a young, playful sweet boy.  Ted loves to snuggle and cuddle.  He will curl up next to you ever chance he gets.  He gets along just fine with his foster brother and sister.  Ted really likes to play ball and hang out with his foster dad.  Ted has wonderful house manners, rides great in the car, does NOT pull on his leash and has mastered the doggie door.  Ted has also lived successfully with cats.

Ted does have allergies that are currently being effectively managed by his foster family.  The care of them will need to be continued by his forever family.  The loving family that relinquished Ted did try quite a few treatments to help Ted.  They could not pin point exactly what was bothering Ted, but strongly suspected that one of the things he was allergic to were the cats he was living with.   After much veterinary testing and consulting, ESRA and Ted’s foster family feel that we have a good management plan for Ted’s allergies.

Ted is an awesome young Springer who is healthy and happy.  He has a heart of gold and is full of Springer Spirit.  What’s not to love about Ted!

Madison is a wonderful and affectionate seven-year-old liver and white field Springer. You would never guess her age by the way she acts. We are not sure what her background was, but we were told she was left outside to fend for herself. Madison is living the good life now in a wonderful foster home. She has adapted to being indoors like a true Springer! Her foster mom says she is very friendly and very affectionate. She does well with both men, women, and children that are ten or older. Madison loves to run, play, and rough-house with other dogs. She has a strong prey drive, so she would not be good with cats or small animals. Madison has been known to chase the cats in her foster home. Her favorite thing is rawhide chews. Madison is housetrained, crate trained, and loves to ride in the car. She just jumps in when the car door is opened and is ready to go anywhere with you. Madison has a high energy level at times, but can lay around all day with the rest of the pack too!

Madison will need some work on her leash skills because she pulls when on a leash. She does not counter surf, chew, or dig things up. Madison is not sure of her name, and will need some work on responding to coming when called.

Her foster mom says the best things about Madison is her friendly, outgoing, and affectionate personality! She also has a great nose for smelling out all sorts of things.

Madison would do best with a family that is willing to spend some time training her. She will need an active family, and would do best in a family with children that are ten years or older.

ESRA#: 2009-31UT
Status: Adopted

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 48 lbs
Variety: Bench

Hello there my name is Wishbone!! I am a very handsome Springer according to what I am told! I was rescued from a shelter by a very nice ESRA lady who took me home and introduced me to my fun foster brothers and sister!! I get along very well with all the dogs at my foster home and I am just trying to figure out my place in the pack!

Before I was rescued I was given a thorough behavior evaluation and I passed with very high marks! I have been working on my behavior for accepting treats and I have gone from being a little rough to very gentle when I take my treats now! I am a very smart dog and I learn fast!! I have also learned to use the doggy door and I do very well riding in the car. I have a cat at my foster home that I am a little curious about, but I don't bother or chase her, so I can probably live with a cat and do just fine, with a little guidance there.

My fur coat is very beautiful and extremely soft, and of course I love to have you stroke and pet me as much as you would like! My foster mom says I am a very pleasant and well tempered dog and I also mind and listen well. I would probably do best with another dog, or maybe two, in my forever family, because I don't always like to be left alone. But I have done very well when I was left home alone in the house with a couple of my furry friends. So my house manners are pretty good I think!

I might need to find a family that doesn't have really young children. All I need is a little training, some attention and a lot of love from my new family and I will be the happiest and best dog ever!!

What I am wishing for is a forever family to give all my love and Springer kisses to!!

Hope to meet you soon,
Wishbon

SAMMIE
Salt Lake City, UT

ESRA # 2008-0620UT

Age: 16 months
Gender: Female
Color: Black/White
Weight: 44 lbs.
Variety: Field-bred

Hi!  My name is Sammie and I am very anxious to find my forever home.  I lived out in the country with two other dogs in a tiny kennel, the three of us were the pheasant hunting team.  We were three, until I flunked hunting, as I hate loud noises and and I don't care to track or retrieve.  I felt really bad about it until a volunteer from ESRA came out to pick me up.  She told me I would have a home where I would live as part of a family and go places with them and actually sleep indoors.  This sounds like heaven to me!

Then she gave me the sobering news that I would have to improve my manners.  Oh dear, I never thought of that.  Fortunately I remember the house training from my first home, which I left when I was only 7 months old.  But the leash and heel thing is harder for me.  My family will have to help me get this skill perfected by taking me to doggie obedience school.

I adore people, especially children.  I get along well with other dogs, having perfected my social skills by squeezing in with two other dogs into one tiny dog house.  I don't try to be boss, but I don't let other dogs pick on me either.  My play skills and endurance are first rate.  I love to run around, but I do not run off, and I hang close to my humans and my dog pack.  So far I have shown no interest in climbing fences or digging.  I have not seen any cats, so that factor is unknown.

I stayed in a room with puppy gates by myself for one day.  Thank goodness I passed the no chew test and was allowed to roam around the house and yard with my new friends.  I sure didn't care for being alone like that, with all the action going on in the next room.  I am anxious to please, so my foster mom thinks I will learn quickly if someone takes an interest in teaching me.

That's my story.  I'd love to meet you.

One-year-old Abby is a princess in training. She is so sweet and so sensitive. She notices everything around her and reacts with puppy curiosity and caution. She is attracted to bright spots of light (we are working on distracting her from that activity) and to any open human lap! She enjoys going for walks, and since that is the best way to expose her to new things, it is a good experience for everyone. She seems right at home out in the field, nose and legs going in the standard back-and-forth fashion.

Abby gets along well with other dogs. She was raised in a family with children and was only relinquished due to a cross-country transfer which resulted in exchanging a house for an apartment. She rides quietly in the car once you are on a steady pace. Just like a child, she is lulled to sleep. Abby is housetrained and invisible-fence trained. She walks with a bit of a tug on the leash, but she is learning better manners in that department. She absolutely adores attention and lives up to the Velcro dog description. Her whole body wiggles when she sees you, which has earned her a nickname, Jello.

An ideal home for Abby would be one that is willing to give her a set daily routine. She is very willing to be trained and would enjoy positive training as well as some fun exercise. Her greatest desire is to be your constant companion. This is your little princess, Abby.

Hang on to your heart because this sweet, mellow guy will snatch it away before you know it. Darcy is a total gentleman in the house. He's so quiet that you hardly know he's there. If you pass by him while he's taking one of his long naps, he acknowledges you by rolling to his side for a tummy rub without opening his eyes! He loves attention but doesn't demand it. He is friendly to people and especially gentle around children. He gets along well with his foster brother and sister.

We continue to help him perfect his leash-walking talents. There is no pulling, but some hesitancy at times because he is still getting used to this whole new world that he never had experienced. We've noticed some barking and fear of larger dogs when walking on the leash, but for the most part, he is outgoing towards other dogs. Cats are an unknown at this point.

Darcy is doggie-door trained, has learned the Sit command, and very much appreciates a treat for his efforts! He isn't fond of the crate, but tolerates it. He is so well-behaved, he hasn't needed it in his foster home. He likes to carry around socks and other items that he finds on the floor, so you will need to keep your house neat and tidy!

This mellow, gentle boy will make a wonderful addition to the right family. He's truly a gem. Let us know if you think you are the right family for our Darcy!

Lady is about 10 years old. Her owner lost her job and surrendered Lady to animal control. Perhaps this is a silver lining for Lady. ESRA was able to rescue her and she has been lucky enough to receive some much needed medical care. ESRA's Angel Vet, Dr Doug, removed a tumor from Lady's eye and provided some much needed dental care. Lady now has a clean bill of health and is ready to go to a forever home.

Lady is affectionate, well behaved, and totally house trained. She is up to date on all her shots and has been spayed. Lady has a bit of arthritis from a previous knee injury, so she only needs leash walks. Lady is great around other dogs and is curious about cats. She would be a great companion for someone who likes to sit on the couch and cuddle. If you want someone to to snuggle with and get springer kisses from then Lady is the springer for you!

I am one of Missy's pups! We were born right before the holidays, on December 16, 2008. We are having great time learning about life, playing with each other and even learning about the outside on warm days here on the western slope. We really like to walk in our food dish!

Mama Missy is teaching us the do's and don'ts about being good pups and our foster parents are making sure we are healthy, clean and safe. We are all pretty agreeable youngsters. None of us are particularly dominant, we get along well and we act pretty much like normal puppies. Pretty soon, we hear, we are going to ready for biggest adventure of our lives - going to our forever homes! Wow!

Anyone interested in adopting the pups must have previously had an English Springer Spaniel and must be willing to travel to Ouray to meet the pups and their foster family. Please let us know if you think you might be the right family for one of these pups! They should be ready for adoption at age 9-10 weeks, mid-late February.

Charley, Charley, Charley!

Charley is a young, energetic, happy boy that is looking for his perfect family. He has lots and lots of energy, loves to play ball and keeps himself busy with all the experiences that life has to offer. Charley seems to love everyone he meets.

Charley, in his life before he came into rescue it seems, did not have a lot attention paid to him. His forever family will need to continue his obedience training and have an active lifestyle. Charley is a good boy in the car and has already learned sit and stay. He is a very smart boy, and will learn quickly given the love and guidance that he so deserves. He gets along well with his foster brother. Because of his exuberance older children would most likely be happiest with Charley.

If you are looking for a furry friend to go on hikes with, perhaps a jog or someone to play fetch with, think about Charley. Charley is a great dog with so much to offer. He is young, handsome and looking to give many years of love, devotion and companionship to his forever family.

Update 2/26/09 - Charley continues to show what a very good boy he is. He now responds to Come and No. Charley has mastered his housetraining manners and is crate trained. On a recent trip to the vet's office for his final vaccinations, the vet commented on what a great dog Charley is, and found it hard to believe he had a few things to learn because he was so well behaved!

Introducing Miss Annie, ESRA's lovely new girl with beautiful reddish-brown eyes. What a sweetheart! She walks well on leash, listens to her humans, comes when called, and rides well in the car. Annie is a bit cautious when meeting new people, but if treated respectfully, she warms right up, and loves a good ear scratch and tummy rub!

Annie was treated less than kindly by a young child before she came to us, and is not comfortable around small children. She would do best in a home with adults or older children. She would love to have a family that can spend time with her and give her the gentle love and attention she so deserves! She will return the love in multiples!

If you think the charming Annie might fit well into your family, please let us know!

Beautiful, sweet Chloe.

Chloe was one of the most endearing Springers I have ever met.

Her spirit was kind and gentle.

Chloe's blindness was only physical, she could see the all the

wonderful things that life had to offer.

My only comfort in Chloe's leaving us today is that I am sure that

she was met at the Rainbow Bridge by those

who have gone before her.

They are all running, playing, happy and healthy.

My name is Chloe and I am blind. I came to ESRA after I got lost and was found wandering in the snow. Some very nice people took me in and kept me safe.

I am quiet, sweet girl, and just want to be with my people. My docked tail tends to wag a lot when my people talk to me. I like to curl up at my foster mom's feet and take naps. I have been told that I have a very soft, feminine snore. Can you believe that?

I learned my new name very quickly and I like it! I am housetrained, ride quite well in the car, and am starting to enjoy leash walks with my foster brothers and sister. I get along very well with other dogs, and don't mind cats. I love chews, and the FAVORITE part of my day is meal time!

My vet thinks I have been blind for a very long time. I don't need any special care for my eyes, just a check with the vet about once a year. I was a little overweight when I first came to foster care, but have lost five pounds and am healthy. I am regaining my girlish figure!

I have done quite well with figuring out my foster home, and am even learning the doggy door! And I know where my food bowl is! I would be happy as an only dog, or as a companion to another dog or cat. I am looking for a family who has some patience, and is willing to spend some time helping me learn my new home

Rex came to ESRA as an owner release. He is a beautiful four-year-old black-and-white bench-bred male. Rex is full of Springer energy and loves water. He gets along well with people of all ages. Rex got along well with the three-year-old boy in his previous home, even when the child was playing in Rex's food dish. Rex does not like being alone and would do best having another dog for companionship. He is unhappy when left alone without a friend and may try to escape.

Rex listens well and is willing to please. He is good with other dogs, horses, cats, poultry, and rabbits. Rex is always ready to jump in the car or truck so he can go with his family. Rex is crate trained. His foster mom says he likes to sleep on the couch on his back. Rex is a high-energy Springer and will need someone to help guide him along the way.

Rex would really like to find a forever home with a family and another dog to play with. If you think you are the right family for Rex, please fill out an application. Rex will be waiting to hear from you!

Age: 18 months

Hi! I'm Henry -- Happy Handsome Henry as I've come to be known. I turned 19 months old in January and am the happiest, most carefree dog you will ever meet. Everyone I meet tells me I'm good looking! I try not to let it go to my head.

I am a tall boy - my foster brother has started walking under me when he wants to get by! My foster mom has been told by a few Springer experts that I am probably from breeding stock in Minnesota or Montana where they like big hunting dogs. As a matter of fact, I think I would make a great hunting companion - I can flush birds with the best of them and I learn quickly!

I love people and dogs and am very adaptable to any situation. We've gone to the dog park, on hikes and around the park. I am great in the car. I will sit in a crate quietly, but I don't like it much if someone isn't nearby. I am very well behaved in the house, and have learned the doggy door and am completely housebroken. No one has tested me with cats yet, but I'm so adaptable I'm sure I would be fine.

My foster mom is a trainer, so I go to school every day. I don't even get holidays off, can you believe that? My foster mom says repetition is the key to success. It's working, because I have learned all of the basics. I'm especially proud of the way I sit patiently for my food bowl and sit quietly when I'm finished. I learn something new every day. She tells me that I learn very quickly and seem very intuitive - I am so focused I seem to read her mind!

I would love to find a home where someone can exercise often with me or where I have room to run. If you made a resolution for New Year's to get in shape, I am the perfect training companion. My long legs let me go forever and afterwards I am happy to curl up close by and be your best friend. I would love having dog friends, too. I love my foster brother, even when he's a bit grumpy!

If you think you are the right family for me, my foster mom says hurry before she decides she can't part with me!.

Let me introduce you to Riley! He is a really great Springer who came into rescue after he turned out to not be such a good hunting dog. But Riley is a very sweet and loving dog that could bring lots of fun and excitement into your home and family! Just give him the chance!!

Riley is housetrained, he is very good with other dogs, and he is pretty good with cats, though he might just need a little positive reinforcement to make sure he treats them just right! Riley loves to run and play and spring wherever he goes!! He is good off leash and will come back when he is called.

Riley has lived with children and is good with them also, but he might need to learn not to jump up on them when he gets so excited! He has the typical Springer energy and lots of love to give his new family. Riley would love to snuggle up with you and keep you warm on some of these cold winter nights, if you let him!!

Riley has had quite a long journey through several homes in his short life, but he is really ready to settle down and find the family that will love and cherish him forever, just like he will love them back!!

If you would like to meet Riley or find out more about him, please contact us soon.

Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Riley.

Hello, my name is Clover! I have just come into rescue and gee is it nice here!! I could really tell you some stories about my recent harrowing brush with death!! I was found running around the airport, which, believe me, is no good place for a dog!! I really much prefer a warm home with good food, a soft bed and lots of toys and friends to play with!!

I am a petite little girl, because I want to keep my cute girlish figure! The shelter people were very good to me. They played with me and gave me my name. It fits very well because I am as sweet as Clover, or so I am told!! It was just a little bit confusing when I arrived at my foster home. There were so many big foster brothers there to greet me, I wasn't exactly sure what to do. However, I am a very smart girl and I learned to use the doggy door right away!! Sometimes it really helps to have those foster brothers to follow. I am completely house trained, and have had no accidents in the house.

I am really cute, enthusiastic and fun to play with! I love to run around with my foster brothers, so I should be able to get along with just about any dog!! I do fine with the cat, I ride well in the car, I am crate trained and just need some basice obedience training to be the best dog I can be!!

I would love to have a family and home of my own to settle down in and give all my young, sweet Springer love and kisses to!! Won't you call to find out more about me soon? I'll be waiting for you!!

Hi my name is Missy and I am one of the Kansas Dogs - please read our story by clicking on the banner next to my picture!

I am the proud mama of seven pups, and have been a very good mom, but I am looking for a Forever Home of my own where I can be the center of attention.

I am a petite little girl that loves to give and get affection. I am good with other dogs and ignore the cats in my foster home. I come when called, know Sit, and ride well in the car. I like to sit at your feet, and will greet you with a wonderful little woo-woo when you come home.

I will be ready for my Forever Home as soon as the pups are ready .

Age: 14 months
Gender: Female
Color: Tricolor
Weight: 38 lbs
Variety: Bench

Hi!

I'm Beth, but sometimes my foster mom calls me Baby Beth or Little One. Life has sure been busy lately! I've been traveling a lot, but I am becoming a happy girl since the wonderful ESRA people rescued me and brought me to Colorado.

My foster mom says I melt hearts with my soulful brown eyes and serious face. I am learning how to live in a house with people and my foster mom says I am a star pupil! I have already learned about the doggy door, am learning how to walk on a leash and I've been told that counter-surfing is not an okay thing to do. I like to stay with my foster mom and my foster brothers when we go to the dog park, so I am good off-leash, too.

I may be small but I like to play with the big boys! My favorite playmate is my 65-pound foster brother! Sometimes I grab his ears, but he doesn't seem to mind. He walks by sometimes with a rope bone, so I'll grab it and play tug-of-war.

I am a shy, sensitive girl who would do best with a family with a gentle touch. I really enjoy other dogs, but only if they treat me gently, too. Where I was before, the dogs weren't so nice and I lost the lower part of my ear. It doesn't bother me a bit - and my foster mom tells me I am very pretty! I take a while to warm up to new people, but once I do I am a very loving girl!

If you think you are the right family for Beth, please let us know!.

ESRA#: 2008-906IA
Status: Adopted

Age: 3 years
Gender: Male
Color: Black & White
Weight: 55 lbs
Variety: Field

Meet your new best friend, Jäger!

Jäger is German for hunter. This 3-year-old black and white field bred Springer would love to hunt up some fun with you!

Jäger is sweet, loving, and just full of springer energy. He prances around the house tossing toys, and if he cannot find one, he will creatively use his dog dish. He likes to cuddle with you; all 55 lbs of him will snuggle on your lap!

This big boy is certainly ready for some training. He is very willing to please and has the drive and energy that should be focused on a job. It will be fun to watch him learn new things and a joy to participate in them with him. He does love to play fetch and loves his treats.

Jäger is housetrained, invisible-fence trained, rides very nicely in the car, and walks with the traditional springer pull until you remind him to heel. As you can imagine with his natural prey drive, he is not good with cats. He has learned to be good with the other dogs. Since he is a big, bouncy boy, small children would not be a good match.

If you are ready for some true springer bounce and joy in your life, are active, and want a dog to keep up with you, Jäger is your boy!

ESRA#: 2008-1061NE
Status: Adopted

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 44 lbs
Variety: Bench

Do you want a devoted companion? Someone with soft brown eyes who is happy just being with you? Someone who likes taking long walks with you, or car rides, and someone who isn't afraid to show his playful side? If so, Rover is the dog for you! He came into rescue due to a divorce. He is a wiggle butt who loves people; we don't know about cats. He gets along pretty well with his twelve-year-old foster sister, but sometimes he growls at other dogs at the vet or when he meets them outside.

Rover sleeps well in his crate at night, and he has not tried to escape under or over the four-foot fence at his foster home. He is learning to sit and wait for his meals and before going outside. Rover gets a little wild when playing and wants to jump up, so a home without very small children might be best. He is very sensitive and responds quickly to the commands Off or Hey when he is corrected. Rover absolutely loves dog toys and knows right where they are! He should have a lot of them at his forever home! He will occasionally try to pick up a non-dog toy to chew, but he is easily diverted to something more appropriate.

Rover is fully housetrained and has good house manners. However, he hasn't been left alone to wander in the house while the foster family is gone. He really loves to be with people and would do best in a home where someone is around much of the time and can give him good exercise once or twice a day. Rover also needs some work on his leash manners, but he is a smart dog and should learn fast! He only tried to get up on the furniture once. He loves to be a lap dog and cuddle with his humans while we are sitting on the floor. We do not allow him on the furniture. He happily receives and gives kisses and doesn't mind if you handle his ears or feet.

Rover was so matted when he came into rescue that he got a much-needed haircut right away. Now he is such a handsome boy! he just needs to grow his beautiful Springer ears back soon

Rover is the happiest dog his foster family has ever seen! Does he sound like the special someone for your family?

Age: 4 months
Gender: Male

Age: 18 months
Gender: Male

Hi Everybody! My name is Copper. I got my name because my coat is as brilliant as a copper penny when it's new. My personality is the same, bright and shiny, ready for fun and new friends.

I have had some unlucky breaks so far in life. I started out in a Kansas commercial breeding facility. Plus, I have had inverted eyelids since I was born. But my luck certainly changed the day ESRA picked me up with all of the other dogs that were coming into rescue too. I started my long journey in Kansas and made it all the way to Utah!! My wonderful friends in rescue took me right to the vet to get my eyelids fixed with surgery. I just got the stitches removed and my eyes look like great! Boy am I a happy dog!! I have also had some baths, brushings and got my ears cleaned, so now I am looking really terrific, if I do say so myself!

I am a sweet young guy who is looking towards a very happy future! I just adore being a house dog, and I listen carefully to my foster mom regarding what I should do. I have learned all about house training from following the example of my furry foster brother and sister. They are great buddies of mine and I love to wrestle with them. It's really fabulous to have a nice soft bed to sleep in and people to cuddle with. I am definitely a velcro Springer and my floppy lips are just the thing for a big Springer smooch!!

I have been a really good patient for the vet. In my spare time I am working on my comedy routines to make people laugh! Before our dog walks I pick up all the leashes the dogs are dragging and parade them around the house with the leashes in my mouth! I also try to make my furry buddies laugh by crawling under their bellies, then standing up to knock them off their feet!! I am not a dominant dog, so I help keep things cheerful in the pack!

love to hike in the foothills around Logan. I stick right with my humans, and my doggy friends, and never run off! I know the commands, come, heel and I am working on sit. I still have a lot to learn and I would love a forever family to teach me!! I am rather shy when you first meet me, but I warm up after spending a little while with people. My foster mom thinks I would be better with another dog or two in the family, because I get very lonesome when my family goes off to work in the mornings. I ride great in the car.

Wouldn't you love to meet me and let my bright personality shine in your life?

dogpic

ESRA#: 2008-1064CO
Status: Adopted

Age: 6 years
Gender: Female
Color: Liver & White
Weight: 60 lbs
Variety: Bench

Sadie is a beautiful, sweet, playful and funny girl.

Sadie was relinquished to a shelter because her older mom and dad could no longer care for her. The shelter than called and told us about Sadie and we went and picked her up! Sadie has lived her whole life with one family. She is definitely starting a new chapter. Sadie has so much to see, learn about and experience. She can be timid and unsure of even the most common of daily activities. Sadie loves to ride in the car, walking on the leash is a piece of cake for her. She loves to explore in the back yard, she is curious about most things. It is fun to watch her experience life right before our eyes.
Sadie likes to play with her foster brothers. Racing to get down the stairs first and then not letting them go by is one of her favorite games! Surprisingly, the boys don't always share the same excitement for this game. She loves her toys, throwing them up in the air, pouncing on them and then running around with it in her mouth only to go through the whole process again. What a hoot she is!!

For Sadie to successfully continue on her journey she will need a home that is quiet. She needs patience, consistency, predictability and most of all love and acceptance. Sadie needs a family that is willing to spend the necessary time with her so she can blossom into the beautiful, affectionate Springer that is inside of her.

Update 14 Dec 08 - Sadie is doing wonderfully. Her self confidence is growing with everyday! Sadie also LOVES the snow ~ she likes to run around in it and smell the snowflakes as they come down. She is so full of life.

ESRA # 2008-0957CO

Age: 7 years
Gender: Male
Color: Tri-colored
Weight: 49 lbs.
Variety: Bench/Show-Bred

Hi, I'm George, and I have a rather exotic, mysterious past!  I guess you could say I am Romanian, as I was born in Romania and lived there for several months before my family brought me to the USA.  Do you suppose I was a Romanian prince in my prior life? I am rather regal, and I am very handsome, if I say so myself.

So, that said, I guess I better tell you the real story.  I am a goofball!  I LOVE to play.  I love any kind of ball, but right how, my basketball is my favorite.  I like to try to get my foster brothers to play, but they just aren't fun, and they are younger than me! Rumor has it that if you toss me a bottle of water, I can screw off the top with my teeth and drink.

I would be happy with a family of humans, or with another dog, but I would prefer one who will play with me! I like children who are school age or older.  I walk well on the leash, I ride well in the car, and I am healthy and beautiful with my new haircut!

Please meet our little miss Coco. She is very sweet and warm and much better than something to drink on a cold winter night!! Coco is a beautiful little girl who would love to warm up your home and your family with her delicious personality!!

Coco is housetrained and crate trained. She is good with other dogs. She is also pretty good with cats, though might just need some occasional reminders to treat them with respect. Coco was turned into rescue because she was not a good hunting dog, but she is an excellent friend in every other way!

She loves to play and run, but she always comes back when she is called. Coco is really fun to watch when she runs, because she is so light on her feet, just like a little floating and dancing dog!! She has also lived with children and is very good with them.

Coco has had several different homes in her young life, but she is more than ready to settle in with a loving family to take care of her forever!! She will give you back all the love she has to give, and that is a lot!

Please let us know if you would like to meet our darling Coco. However, this little Swiss miss comes without marshmallows!!

My name is Curly, and I am very friendly, and love to play. I have gotten along great with all the dogs I have met and I love to play, play, and play some more with my foster brother!!! My foster dad says that I am the sweetest boy.

I think I walk very well on a leash and I come running when called. I am a very good boy around the house, if I do say so myself. I don't chew, dig, or counter surf. I am housetrained, and love to ride in cars. I really don't mind my crate and have learned how to use the doggie door.

As you can see, I am a pretty awesome Springer! I love people, my foster brother and sister, and am fairly well-behaved for an active, young Springer. What's not to love about me ~ I ask you?!

SIMON
Arnold, NE

ESRA # 2008-0660NE

Age: 5 years
Gender: Male
Color: Liver/White
Weight: 50 lbs.
Variety: Field-Bred

Yippee!  Life is fun, fun, fun.   Simon is a very happy, active field Springer.  He has a beautiful big square head and reminds us of the classic  springer models in the old Orvis ads.   He is not hyper, but does like to be busy.  He gets along well with other dogs and  enjoys playing with the young fosters in our home.  Mind you though, he is protective of his space in HIS crate and of HIS food with other dogs... he is NOT this way with people however.   He is leash trained, crate trained, invisible fence trained, rides well in the car and has not had any accidents in the house.  He LOVES the water and will use any container of water as his personal swimming pool :-)   He is NOT good with cats.  He is very birdy and has been shot over, but has had no formal hunting training.  With his energy and desire he could be a great dog in the field.  Simon has lived with children but due to his enthusiasm, older kids may be the best to avoid knocking them over.  He has just discovered that his foster dad has a great lap for watching TV from.   He is willing to learn new things and has so much joy for life training is fun.

Would you like to learn more about Simon?  Please contact his foster
family, Clay and Julie Mohr.  They love visiting about their foster dogs!
